Palmer's Flat, Gloucestershire

Burgums of the "MM" family tree, lived at Palmer's Flat, near Milkwall in the Forest of Dean.

Palmer's Flat lies north west of Parkend between Milkwall and Coalway. By 1834 a few 18th-cenury and early 19th-century cottages had grown up along the road at Gorsty Knoll and Palmer's Flat, not far from Milkwall. Further encroachments built up between Milkwall and Coalway along this road with the town of Coleford a short distance to the north-west and the industries of Parkend and the surrounding area (coal mining, stoneworks and iron furnaces and forges).

FAMILY living at Palmer's Flat were as follows -

John Burgham (iron moulder, age 47), Alice Burgham (wife), Edwin Burgham (son, iron moulder), William Burgham (son), son, iron moulder), Louisa Burgham (dau), Lydia Burgham (dau) and Alice Burgham (dau).
